Soumya Swaminathan, a pediatrician and global expert in tuberculosis and HIV research, is the former Chief Scientist of WHO and previously served as Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) from 2015 to 2017. In February 2023, she became the Chairperson of the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF). She also serves as the Principal Advisor to the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) under India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
